Director Im Kwon-taek to Receive Award at Singapore Film Festival

South Korean director Im Kwon-taek will receive a lifetime achievement award at this year's Singapore International Film Festival.

The organizers said Wednesday on the festival’s Web site that Im was selected the winner of this year's Honorary Award for his lifelong contribution to the development of the film industry. 

The organizing committee said that Im has produced more than 100 films over the past 50 years since he debuted in 1962 with the film “Farewell to the Duman River.”

A special program will show some of Im’s best films, including "Mandala" and "Village in the Mist" during the 25th iteration of the festival scheduled for a run from December 4 to 14. 

The awards ceremony is set for December 13.
