Star figure skater Kim Yu-na has been appointed an honorary ambassador for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

The organizing committee announced Wednesday that it will hold Kim's appointment ceremony on Tuesday at the press center in downtown Seoul.

Kim retired from competition following the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, in which she won a silver medal.

Kim is the sixth person to be named an honorary ambassador for the event. Texas Rangers outfielder Choo Shin-soo, ballerina Kang Sue-jin and author Lee Oi-soo are among the previously named honorary ambassadors.
