N. Korean Defectors Fly 1 Mln Anti-Pyongyang Leaflets Early Friday

A group of North Korean defectors sent around 1 million anti-Pyongyang leaflets across the border from Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, early Friday morning.

The group said its members sent balloons carrying the leaflets to the North slightly past midnight.

They added that they will continue to send the leaflets for the sake of North Korean residents.

One of the members, known by his surname Lee, has lodged a compensation claim against the South Korean government, claiming that the police try to block leaflet distribution even though it is allowed under the South Korean law.

Meanwhile, the North gave an informal rejection to the second round of high-level inter-Korean talks that the South proposed for Thursday, citing Seoul’s lack of control over the anti-Pyongyang leaflets.
