Family of US Citizen Detained in N. Korea Asks for His Release

The family of Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American detainee in North Korea, has again urged Pyongyang to release him.

In a statement on Tuesday marking the second anniversary of his detention, Bae’s family asked the North Korean authorities to free him on humanitarian grounds.

The family also asked the U.S. Department of State to do its best for his release.

Bae, a tour operator and missionary, has been in prison in North Korea since November 2012. In April of last year, he was sentenced by the North’s top court to 15 years of hard labor on charges of hostile acts against the North Korean regime.
