Unification Minister Blames Pyongyang for "Lack of Credibility"

Unification Minister Ryoo Kihl-jae criticized North Korea for the regime’s failure to follow up on an agreement to hold a second round of inter-Korean high-level talks.

During his briefing on the administration’s North Korea policies to foreign ambassadors to South Korea Tuesday, the minister blamed Pyongyang for what he called a "lack of credibility."

Ryoo argued that Pyongyang is making a false argument that the South Korean government is protecting the human rights activists' anti-North Korea leaflet activities. He said Seoul’s effort to turn around the situation is now at risk.

Ryoo said the South Korean government will sternly deal with any irrational demands from Pyongyang but will welcome if the North shows signs to honor the promise it made with the South.

The ambassadors or the vice ambassadors from 43 countries attended the policy presentation meeting.
