North Korea has threatened to respond to the U.S.' call for improving the North’s human rights conditions with nuclear, military and political capabilities.
In the wake of the United Nation's Third Committee discussions on the country's human rights issue, the North delivered the threat on Friday through the Rodong Sinmun, the gazette of the North's ruling Workers' Party
The North said in an editorial that the U.S. is creating a fuss over its human rights conditions. It further claimed that the move by the U.S. is only aimed at isolating and crushing North Korea.
It then threatened to use all of its nuclear power and political and military deterrence in fighting the U.S.
It said Washington refuses to forge diplomatic relations with North Korea and has ceaselessly pressured its regime, adding that the commotion over its human rights situation is in line with the U.S.' hostile policies on the North.
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution on the North's human rights abuses every year since 2005. The resolution submitted this year includes much stronger calls than in the past.
