S. Korea Civic Group Group Flies Propaganda Leaflets Over Border

A South Korean civic group of mainly North Korean defectors sent hundreds of thousands of propaganda leaflets over the inter-Korean border late on Friday.

In a non-publicized event, the group, Fighters for Free North Korea, said they flew 300-thousand leaflets in ten giant balloons across the border into North Korea from Paju, Gyeonggi Province, around 10 p.m.

The group said the leaflets carried messages criticizing the North Korean regime, including the third generation succession of leadership in the state.

It also said there was no conflict with the residents of the area when the balloons were flown over.

South Korean civic groups have been sending propaganda leaflets into North Korea in non-publicized events since November 3 when the groups held a press conference to announce their decision to minimize conflict over the leaflets.
