Lydia Ko Wins LPGA Rookie of the Year Award

South Korean-born New Zealander Lydia Ko has become the youngest golfer to win the LPGA’s honor as rookie of the year.

The LPGA announced the 17-year-old as the winner of the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award, saying that she is continuing to re-write the record books.

Ko has recorded two victories and two runner-up finishes since her debut on the LPGA tour this year.

With three events remaining on the LPGA schedule, she currently ranks third in the world women’s golf rankings and fourth on the official earnings list.

Ko broke the previous record of youngest winner held by Laura Baugh who won the award in 1973 at age 18.
