N.Korea Condemns S.Korea's Purchase of PAC-3 Missiles

North Korea has condemned South Korea’s move to purchase PAC-3 interceptor missiles from the United States, and vowed to enhance its nuclear deterrence.

The Rodong Sinmun, the gazette of the North's ruling Workers' Party, said Sunday that the U.S. sale of PAC-3 missiles is a pre-step to include South Korea in its missile defense system.

The paper said that the arms sale will only push the North to further strengthen its nuclear deterrence.

The paper added that the United States agreed to delay the transfer of wartime operational control in order to sell more arms to South Korea on the excuses of North Korea.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), under the U.S. State Department, said on November 6 that the department approved the sale to Seoul of 136 PAC-3 missiles, related equipment and parts, training and support.
