Local scholars gathered on Friday to discuss the potential roles of culture and tourism in the unification of the two Koreas.
During a seminar hosted by the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, participants including Lee O-young, who served as the country’s first culture minister, and Park Hyun-sun, professor of North Korean Studies at Ewha Womans University, shared ideas as to enhance inter-Korean tourism as the most non-political way of reconciliation and cooperation.
They also called for the cultural exchange between the two Koreas, offering some strategies for Seoul to follow such as the establishment of a public organization aimed at fostering inter-Korean cultural exchange as well as providing subsidy to private cultural exchange projects.
