The two Koreas agreed on Friday that former South Korean first lady Lee Hee-ho will make a trip to Pyongyang via an overland route.
Former culture minister Kim Sung-jae visited Gaesong Friday to discuss with North Korean officials the former first lady's plan to visit the North's capital and told reporters that the North allowed Lee to make the trip and stay at the Paekhwawon State Guesthouse in Pyongyang.
Kim also said the North agreed to the visit by the widow of former President Kim Dae-jung to two day care centers in Pyongyang.
He added the timing of her visit and details of her schedule will be decided in a second working-level discussion.
Kim said he told Won Dong-yon, the vice chairman of the Asia-Pacific Committee who headed the North's delegation, that Lee is thankful of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's invitation and she looks forward to meeting him.
Won reportedly expressed respect for the first lady for visiting Pyongyang despite her age. Kim quoted Won as saying that he followed the wishes of his superior in coming to the working level talks, indicating Kim Jong-un had ordered him to attend.
On aid items, North Korea said it will gratefully accept any items whatever they may be.
Thursday's working-level talks took place at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea over a three hour period starting at 10 a.m.
