Efforts are being made to name a park in Dresden, Germany as “Korea Platz” or “Korea Plaza”.

South Korea’s Embassy in Berlin said it selected a plot near Weisseritzstrasse as the most suitable spot for the new park after inspecting three candidate sites proposed by Dresden city last month.

The plot is located one-point-six kilometers from the heart of the city and is in walking distance from the Zwinger palace which is a key tourist attraction of Dresden.

The embassy initially sought to name a street in Berlin as "Korea Strasse" or “Korea Street” but changed plans after President Park Geun-hye visited Dresden in March.
