Seoul Hands Over 10 N. Korean Fishermen and Vessel

South Korea has returned ten North Korean fishermen who were rescued after being found drifting in their boat in waters off the South’s eastern coast.

The Ministry of Unification said Wednesday that it handed over the fishermen and their vessel to the North through the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the East Sea at around 1:30 a.m.

The boat had drifted across the NLL after experiencing engine problems and was found Sunday night near the South’s easternmost islets of Dokdo. All ten fishermen expressed their desire to return to North Korea.
