President Park Geun-hye vowed to make more efforts to expand South Korea’s cultural exchange programs with other countries as a way of contributing to world peace.

In a congratulatory video speech at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong on Wednesday, Park said the South Korean government has set promoting culture as one of its key policy agendas. She added that the government believes culture opens hearts and brings happiness and peace to people around the world.

MAMA, which marked its 16th anniversary this year, is one of the biggest pop music awards in Asia. The ceremony is held annually by South Korean company, CJ E&M, and aired through its cable music channel, Mnet.
