Unification Minister to Visit US Dec. 8-14

Minister of Unification Ryoo Kihl-jae will visit the United States for a week beginning Monday to discuss Seoul's North Korea policy and inter-Korean relations.

The Ministry of Unification said Thursday that Ryoo will meet with Wendy Sherman, the acting deputy secretary of the U.S. State Department, along with other U.S. government officials and lawmakers.

Ryoo will also meet with officials from international organizations, including the chief of the United Nations Population Fund, to be briefed on their North Korea projects and to inform them of Seoul's vision.

It will be the first trip to the United States by South Korea's unification minister since 2011, when Ryoo's predecessor, Yu Woo-ik, made a visit.
