South Korean skater Lee Sang-hwa won the gold medal in the women's 500-meter speed skating competition at a World Cup event on Saturday in Berlin, Germany.
Lee came out on top at the third speed skating race of the 2014-2015 International Skating Union Speed Skating World Cup after finishing the 500 meter event in 37-point-87 seconds, beating Heather Richardson of the United States by a considerable margin of zero-point-34 seconds.
Lee also finished first in the second event, which was held in Seoul on November 22.
In the men's team pursuit match, South Korea passed the finish line in three minutes and 46-point-97 seconds, coming in second behind Poland.
The win was the South Korean team's second medal after the first match, which was held in Obihiro, Japan.
Also at the event, former Olympic champion Mo Tae-bum failed to win a medal after finishing seventh in the men's first 500-meter competition.
