'Roaring Currents' Sets Box Office Record in N. America

The Korean period action film “Roaring Currents” has drawn 250-thousand viewers and become the top-selling Korean film of all time in North America.

The United States unit of the South Korean distributor CJ E&M said Sunday that the film attracted about 250-thousand moviegoers since it opened at 30 theaters in the United States and Canada in August.

The distributor said that the film earned an estimated two-point-nine billion won, which is the largest figure for South Korean films released in North American theaters.

The previous records were set by "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... And Spring" released in 2004 and “The Host” released in 2007.
