Local Film Market Share Drops to Yearly Low in November

The market share of local films dropped in November to the lowest point this year.

According to the Korean Film Council's November tally of the domestic box office on Monday, local films accounted for 21-point-five percent of the market share. Only three-point-24 million moviegoers viewed Korean films in November, down about four million from a year ago.

Foreign films garnered about 12 million viewers, up about six million from a year ago, due to the success of "Interstellar."

The film by Christopher Nolan has attracted more than nine-point-one million viewers during 33 days as of December 7. It has swept past "Iron Man 3" to become the third-most watched foreign film in South Korea following "Avatar" and "Frozen."
