S. Korean Historians Visit North to Discuss Joint Excavation of Ancient Tombs

A group of South Korean historians visited North Korea on Tuesday to hold their first meeting on a joint excavation of tombs from the ancient kingdom of Goguryeo.

Five South Korean members of the Inter-Korean Historian Association traveled to Gaeseong to discuss with the North's officials the joint excavation and research of the unexplored Goguryeo tombs in the North.

The two sides will also discuss plans for next year on a project to uncover the Manwoldae royal palace site in Gaeseong, which has been jointly undertaken since 2007.
