38 North: No Imminent Sign of Nuclear Test in N. Korea

A U.S. think tank said there is no imminent sign North Korea will conduct a fourth nuclear test.

The website 38 North, a program of the U.S.-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins University, said Wednesday that its analysis of recent satellite images revealed no sign of preparation for a nuclear test at the North’s underground nuclear test site.

The website said only scant activity has been detected at the site in Punggye-ri, North Hamgyong Province over the past four months, adding it is unlikely the North will conduct a nuclear test in the next two or three months.

The North had threatened last month to resume nuclear tests in protest of the adoption of a resolution against the country’s human rights records at a United Nations committee.
