Chief of the organizing committee for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games has reaffirmed the stance that all events for the 2018 games will be held in South Korea.
Committee President Cho Yang-ho held a meeting with staff members in Seoul on Friday and reiterated that there is no possibility of sharing events with another country as suggested by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Cho said he respects the IOC's resolve to reform, but that it will be difficult to apply the plan to Pyeongchang’s Winter Games as construction for all stadiums has already begun.
He added that while talks will be held if the IOC extends a detailed proposal on possible candidate cities to share the events, he said he hopes all venues for the 2018 Winter Olympics can stay in Korea as originally planned.
Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Province is the first South Korean host of the Winter Olympics, winning the bid in 2011.
