N. Korea Raises Issues with US Human Rights Conditions

North Korea has blamed South Korea for keeping mum on the United States Central Intelligence Agency's alleged torture on terrorist suspects.

In an article published by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency on Thursday, the spokesman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland claimed that Seoul has no right to criticize the North’s human rights.

The spokesman said that South Korea is imposing a double standard by assenting to the human rights abuses by the U.S., adding that the South Korean government holds its own share of human rights abuses.

In an apparent reference to the prosecution's investigation of Shin Eun-mi, a Korean American suspected of violating the national security law by praising the North, the spokesman said the South has infringed on the human rights of those who are raising, what he called, a “right voice”.
