WHO Doctor Who First Identified SARS Dies from the Disease

The World Health Organization doctor who first identified a mysterious flu-like illness has died of the disease in a hospital in Thailand. Carlo Urbani contracted the disease in mid March from a dying American businessman in Hanoi, Vietnam. The 46-year old Urbani was an expert in communicable diseases and worked in public health programs in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
