Final Roster for Asian Cup Confirmed, Park Chu-young Left off

Former Arsenal striker Park Chu-young has been left off the final roster for the upcoming Asian Cup.

South Korean national men's football team manager Uli Stielike announced a 23-member roster on Monday for the continental football tournament that will kick off in Australia in January. Instead of Park, the German manager has filled Team Korea’s offensive positions with Lee Jeong-hyeop, a forward for the Sangju Sangmu, as well as Lee Keun-ho of Qatari club and El Jaish, and Cho Young-cheol of Qatar SC.

Son Heung-min, a young star at Bayern Leverkusen, and Ki Sung-yueng of Swansea City, have been picked to lead the midfield contingent, along with Bolton Wanderers’ Lee Chung-yong. Also playing as a midfielder will be Nam Tae-hee, Lee Myung-joo, Han Kyo-won, Kim Min-woo, Koo Ja-cheol and Han Kook-young.

Kim Jin-soo will take charge of defense, along with Park Joo-ho, Jang Hyun-soo, Kim Young-gwon, Kim Ju-young, Kwak Tae-hwi, Kim Chang-soo and Cha Du-ri.

Three goalkeepers - Kim Jin-hyeon, Kim Seung-gyu and Jung Sung-ryong - have made their names on to the list.

The South Korean national team is paired together with Australia, Kuwait and Oman in Group A. The team will leave for Australia on December 27.
