Businessmen representing South Korean companies operating in the the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea visited the factory park to oppose the North's attempt to raise salaries for its workers.
Chairman Jeonng Gi-seob of the Corporate Association of Gaeseong Industrial Complex met reporters Wednesday before heading to the North with ten officials of the organization.
Jeong said he will ask officials of the North's General Bureau for the Special Zone Development Guidance to withhold and reconsider the unilateral revision of labor rules.
Noting that the Gaeseong labor regulations were agreed upon by the two Koreas, the chief of the South Korean lobby group said the North's unilateral revision undermines trust and prevents the factory park from further expanding.
North Korea unilaterally revised 13 labor regulations affecting complex operation on November 20. It has since rejected two messages the South sent in an attempt to communicate to the North on the matter.
