A South Korean documentary about the love of an elderly couple has drawn a record number of viewers for a South Korean independent film.

The Korean Film Council said the movie, “My Love, Don't Cross That River,” drew more than three million viewers as of Thursday, or the 29th day since the film’s release.

The film directed by Jin Mo-young has outperformed “Old Partner,” a 2009 documentary which set a box-office record for Korean independent films after drawing two-point-93 million viewers.

Also on Thursday, Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film, “Interstellar,” saw the number of viewers top ten million, making it the third film this year to achieve such a feat, following “Frozen” and “Roaring Currents.”
