The South Korean documentary, “My Love, Don't Cross That River,” has drawn the most number of viewers ever in the country for an independent film.

The documentary about the love of an elderly couple drew roughly 510-thousand viewers over the weekend as the total number of people who have gone to see the film stood at around three-point-six million.

The number of viewers for the movie is higher than the three-point-four million that went to see the U.S. film “Begin Again,” which was screened in South Korea as a limited release film.

Directed by Jin Mo-young, the movie topped three million viewers last Thursday, outperforming “Old Partner,” a 2009 documentary that broke box office records for Korean independent films with two-point-93 million viewers.
