'US Sanctions Could Break Down Inter-Korean Dialogue'

The pro-North Korean newspaper based in Japan says that the United States’ sanctions against the North could cast a damper on the conciliatory mood between the two Koreas and break down inter-Korean dialogue.

The Chosun Sinbo said Sunday that the South Korea government should follow national interests and reject the arrogant intervention by the United States, unless its leader’s commitment and vow to seek reunification of the Korean Peninsula were just empty words.

The paper also urged the “owner of the White House” to positively respond to the North’s historical gesture of reconciliation, saying that it will serve the interests of the U.S. to break out of a vicious circle in which the U.S. provokes first followed by the North’s strong response.
