Mass Rally in N. Korea Calls for Improving Ties

Large crowds gathered in Pyongyang on Wednesday morning, expressing determination to implement the country’s key tasks in the new year.

The North’s state-run Korean Central TV reported that around 100-thousand North Koreans attended a mass rally at Kim Il Sung Square to show support for the tasks suggested by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in his New Year’s address, which include improving inter-Korean relations.

Top North Korean officials were shown attending the rally, including Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly Kim Yong-nam, Workers’ Party Secretary Choe Ryong-hae and Supreme People’s Assembly Chairman Choe Tae-bok.

In a speech, Kim Su-gil, the chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the Workers’ Party, rallied the people behind the regime’s bid to make 2015 a year of transformation for inter-Korean relations and pave the way for a self-reliant unification.
