Pyongyang Urges Washington to Drop "Hostile Policy"

Pyongyang has urged Washington to give up its hostile policy toward the regime, saying it is interfering in the buildup of a peaceful mood on the Korean Peninsula.

The Rodong Sinmun, the North’s official mouthpiece, said Friday that the U.S. has long bid the collapse of the country with its joint military drill with South Korea. It also criticized the U.S. for leading the recent efforts at the United Nations to adopt a resolution on the North’s human rights conditions.

The paper said Washington’s hostile policy has impeded efforts by the two Koreas to improve bilateral ties, calling it a fundamental stumbling block to the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.

The paper claimed that the regime is resolute in responding to Washington’s hardline policy by using the tactic of an eye for an eye, warning that the U.S. would benefit from dropping such a policy on the North.

The North's remarks come after U.S. President Barack Obama signed an executive order early this month to impose sanctions against ten North Korean officials and three state organizations, which are suspected of being involved in the cyber attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment.
