President Park Geun-hye expressed her opposition to discussing making revisions to the nation's Constitution.
  
During the nationally-televised New Year’s news conference on Monday, Park said that discussions on a constitutional amendment could bring on political conflict, leaving urgent issues, like the economy, neglected.
  
The president said that a constitutional amendment is not a pending issue that has immediate effects on the lives of people. She stressed, however, that people will directly suffer if the economy is not revived now.
  
Park warned that if South Korea misses the current golden time to vitalize the economy, it could face tremendous results, like a prolonged economic slump that would last for three decades.
