'Schedule of S. Korea-US Military Drill is Unrelated to Family Reunions'

South Korea’s Defense Ministry has dismissed a media report that the annual joint military exercise dubbed “Key Resolve” between the South and the United States has been delayed for possible reunions of families separated by the Korean War.

Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok told a regular news briefing on Tuesday that the exercise schedule was set previously and the timing had nothing to do with possible family reunions.

A local daily reported that Seoul and Washington agreed to delay the Key Resolve exercise from late February to early March.

This year’s joint drill is scheduled to begin early March, but has taken place in previous years in February.
