The organizing committee for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics said that all events for the 2018 games will be held at the planned stadiums, rejecting the possibility of sharing the events with other countries.
The committee’s secretary general Kwak Young-jin said in a news conference on Tuesday in Seoul that the committee has little time left until the test events scheduled for February next year, calling for an end to the continued controversy over sharing the Olympic events.
The committee said that now is the time to focus on preparations for a successful hosting of the games.
The committee is working to produce measures to effectively utilize Olympic stadiums after the games end. It is also seeking to attract more sponsors to the games.
The committee plans to hold an event on February 9 to mark three years until the 2018 Games.
Then, in May, it will appoint a director who will oversee preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies and select a mascot for the games in December.
