Lankov: N. Korea Not to Follow Chinese Reform Path

Professor Andrei Lankov of Kookmin University forecast Pyongyang's latest economic reform efforts are unlikely to lead to China-style reforms.

The North Korea expert issued his analysis in an article to the New York Times, saying that Pyongyang would not opt for gradual reforms and liberalization like china.

Lankov explained Pyongyang is not taking the same route as China due to South Korea. He added that should North Korean citizens learn about life in South Korea, they would rid themselves of the current regime just as East Germany's citizens did in the past.

Lankov also argued that North Korea would not give up its nuclear arsenal.
