Korean-born short track skater Viktor Ahn won a gold medal in the men’s 500 meter at the ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships.
 
Ahn finished first with a time of 41-point-780 seconds in the Netherlands, defeating Dutch skater Sjinkie Knegt.
 
Ahn, who became a Russian citizen in 2011, finished fourth in the men’s 1,500 meter final with a time of 2 minutes and 20-point-594 seconds.
 
Ahn, who won last year’s championships, is placed second in the general rankings with a total of 42 points.
 
The winner of the European championships will be decided after the 1,000 meter and 3,000 meter finals on Monday.
