N. Korea Warns of Stern Punishment

North Korea has warned that it will deal with South Korea with stern punishment if the South continues to challenge the North’s historic measures aimed at improving inter-Korean relations.

The North's powerful National Defense Commission on Sunday made the threat in a statement, saying that inter-Korean relations remain deadlocked and not even a dialogue mood has been created.

The commission criticized the South for allowing the spread of anti-Pyongyang leaflets by activists and the South's annual joint military drills with the United States.

It also claimed that Seoul is denouncing Pyongyang’s measures for dialogue as moves to break from its international isolation or to create conflicts within the South.

The commission called for the South’s careful and deep thoughts, adding it is closely watching every move of the South Korean authorities.
