N. Korea Asks Cambodia to Ban

North Korea reportedly requested Cambodia ban the sale and screening of “The Interview,” a comedy about a fictitious plot to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

According to Japan’s Kyodo News Sunday, the North Korean Embassy in Phnom Penh sent a diplomatic note to Cambodia's Foreign Ministry on January 8, explaining that the Sony Pictures Entertainment’s film is being copied from the Internet and circulated in some markets in Cambodia.

The note said that the North believes the movie is being circulated by unfriendly forces and such circulation may harm North Korea-Cambodia relations.

The latest move comes after Myanmar cracked down on bootleg copies of “The Interview” at Pyongyang’s request.
