Seoul to Propose Joint Marine Tour Program with N. Korea

Seoul has introduced a plan for the two Koreas to jointly develop marine tourism resources in the North.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries revealed the proposal on Thursday, stressing the need to create ecological tourism programs to attract more tourists from China and other Asian countries.

If an inter-Korean survey takes place for the project, the ministry said, it will consider designating uninhabited islands in the Yellow Sea as "peace islands" and jointly developing them with North Korea.

The ministry also plans to sign an agreement with the Unification Ministry and the UN World Food Program in March to help the North with developing seeds and seedlings.
