Lydia Ko Becomes Youngest No.1 Golfer in the World

The Korean New Zealander Lydia Ko has pushed aside Park In-bee to become the world’s best female golfer.

The 17-year-old got nine-point-70 points in the renewed world rankings Sunday, ahead of Park by zero-point-03 points, becoming the youngest golfer for men or women to hold the top spot in the world rankings.

Ko tied for second at the LPGA season-opening Coates Golf Championship in Florida that ended on Saturday.

Stacy Lewis of the United States came in No.3 in the world rankings at eight-point-83 points, followed by Feng Shanshan of China at six-point-40 points, and Suzann Pettersen of Norway at six-point-09 points.

South Korea’s Choi Na-yeon, who won the Coates Golf Championship, raised her ranking by five notches to 12th, while rookie Jang Ha-na, who also tied for second at the season-opener, rose from 21st to 18th.
