PUST President Says Gmail Usage Possible in Pyongyang

Pyongyang University of Science and Technology President Kim Chin-kyung said Wednesday that Google’s Gmail can be used in Pyongyang.

Kim made the remark during a seminar in Washington, organized by Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, saying that sending and receiving e-mail using Gmail are both possible.

Asked if there are signs of change in the North’s political atmosphere, Kim said he doesn’t believe that the North’s leadership can change as politics do not exist in the North.

The Pyongyang University of Science and Technology is the North’s only privately -funded university and was jointly established by South Korea’s Northeast Asia Foundation for Education and Culture and North Korea’s Ministry of Education.
