N. Korea Test Fires Intelligent Anti-ship Rocket

North Korea claims that it has developed and test-fired an "ultra-precision" intelligent anti-ship rocket.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Saturday that the test was carried out by the Naval Unit 155 of the North’s East Sea fleet under the watchful eye of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The KCNA said that the ultra-precision anti-ship rocket precisely sought, tracked and hit the target, satisfying the strategic and technical specifications. The report did not elaborate on the missile’s specifications.

KCNA added that the new rockets will be deployed at naval units in the near future.

Meanwhile, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that the rocket is a short-range missile with a range of 100 kilometers, and it is hard to consider it an improved version in terms of its performance, range and trajectory.
