South Korean rookie Kim Sei-young came from behind to win the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic on Sunday.
The 22-year-old recorded a 5-under 68 in the final round on the Paradise Island of Bahamas, including a birdie on the 18th hole, forcing a three-way playoff with her compatriot Yoo Sun-young and Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn. Kim sank a five-foot birdie on the first hole of the playoff to win her maiden LPGA victory.
Kim, who won five times on the Korean tour, made her debut on the LPGA this year, but failed to make the cut at the season-opening Coates Golf Championship.
It is a second LPGA victory in a row by a South Korean golfer after Choi Na-yeon won the Coates Golf Championship.
Lydia Ko, a Korean New-Zealander who last week became the youngest world’s No.1 golfer, was tied for seventh at 11-under, while No. 2 Park In-bee reduced the gap with Ko by finishing tied for fifth at 12-under.
