Chelsea Boss Foresees More Honors for Korean Striker

The coach of English football team Chelsea Ladies has praised Korean striker Ji So-yun, the first female South Korean footballer to play in England.

In an interview with Britain-based Sky Sports, Chelsea Ladies' coach Emma Hayes said the 23-year-old has only scratched the surface and in time she thinks Ji will be nominated for the World Player of the Year.

Hayes said that Ji is at the development age and still needs to improve her game defensively, adding that she needs to get “a little tougher in one v one battles and improve the speed of her decision-making.”

The manager said that if she keeps working at it, she wouldn’t be surprised if one day Ji is the World Player of the Year.

The South Korean national joined Chelsea last year after playing in the Japanese league. During her debut season in England, she scored nine goals in 19 matches and catapulted her low ranking team to a semifinal victory.
