U.S. Senators Call for Religious Freedom in N. Korea

U.S. senators have introduced a resolution calling for freedom of religion in North Korea.

James Inhofe, a Republican, and ten other senators sponsored the “Religious Freedom Resolution” last week which calls for the protection of religious minority rights and freedoms worldwide.

The resolution points to religious-based persecution in 11 countries, including North Korea, China, Pakistan and Sudan, and calls on the United States government to lead an international effort to put an end to the persecution.

The resolution cited a report by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom which said that over 15-thousand North Koreans have been locked up at political prisons for practicing their religions, and have been forced to renounce their faith.
