Seoul City is preparing various events and programs for those who will stay in the city or visit during the Lunar New Year holidays.

From Wednesday to Friday, the capital city will hold various folk games and events at the Namsangol Hanok Village and Unhyeon Palace in downtown Seoul.

Visitors can taste-test tteokguk or traditional rice-cake soup and learn details about dishes placed on the table during “charye” ― a ceremony in which food is offered to ancestors in hopes of good fortune for the New Year.

The Seoul Museum of History will hold a Lunar New Year festival on Friday, featuring a dance performance by North Korean defectors and an accordion concert.
