VOA: Korean American Doctors to Visit Pyongyang in May

A group of Korean American doctors is expected to visit North Korea in May as part of an annual medical exchange program.

The Voice of America reported Park Moon-jae, the head of the U.S.-North Korea meeting for medical science exchange, announced a total of 25 Korean Americans will visit Pyongyang for three days beginning May 2 at the request of the North.

The VOA said the group is also expected to attend the 17th Pyongyang medical science forum, where they will announce the latest research outcomes in their fields and showcase advanced techniques to North Korean physicians.

The VOA, however, said that it is uncertain whether their visit to Pyongyang will actually be made this year due to the North’s strict regulation on foreigners entering the country as part of quarantine measures against Ebola.
