The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism plans to establish a new institute to teach and spread Buddhist music.
The Jogye Order said on Saturday that it has started the process of establishing the new music institute, which will launch in March or April.
This institute will have its offices at the Bongeunsa temple in Seoul and seek to build a foundation for teaching Buddhist music.
The institute will create a program for educators as well as a general music curriculum to establish a group of people who can help spread Buddhist music.
The Jogye Order will also encourage key temples in South Korea to establish their own Buddhist orchestras to help incorporate musical activities and traditional Buddhist culture into their sermons.
