Speed skater Park Seung-hi has won the top national sports award.

Park, a former short track star who switched to speed skating last year, received the grand prize at the 61st annual Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) Awards held in Seoul on Monday.
 
At the Sochi Winter Olympics last year Park won two gold medals in the women’s one-thousand meter and three-thousand meter short track events and one bronze medal in the 500 meter.
 
She grabbed one gold, one silver and one bronze at the world championships as well.
 
Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae and bowler Park Jong-woo won first prize for competition at the awards ceremony, while coach Choi Kwang-bok of the nation’s skating team and rugby referee Cho Seong-ryong were also honored with awards.
