South Korea will have 66 holidays in 2016, the same as 2015.
According to the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute Thursday, a total of 69 days will qualify as holidays 2016. There will be 52 Sundays, 15 state-designated holidays, one alternative day off for the Lunar New Year and one day off for the general election.
However, three of the state-designated holidays will fall on Sunday, decreasing the number of days off to 66.
In 2016, there will be four two-day holidays, one three-day holiday, and one four-day holiday. Including the previous or ensuing weekends, people in the country will twice be able to take five days off in a row, each during the Lunar New Year (February 6-10) and Chuseok (September 14-18).
Workers at companies with a five-day workweek will have a total of 118 days off in 2016.
