A senior United States military commander said Thursday that North Korea is developing a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).
 
Japan's Kyodo News Agency said Friday that Commander of the U.S. Strategic Command Cecil Haney made the remark during testimony at a hearing in the U.S. Congress.
 
The remark raises the credibility of a recent U.S. media report that the North conducted the first flight test of a new SLBM last month.
 
Haney said the North is also developing a missile that can be fired from a mobile missile ejection launcher.
 
He also said that the North owns miniaturized nuclear warhead that can be mounted on a ballistic missile.
